Product Texture Changes In The Warmer Months? Here's What to Do!

As it gets warmer, you may notice a few changes in your skincare products. Some of your favorite SBA products might feel a little softer or more melty than usual during the warmer months & that’s completely normal. Because we don’t use synthetic stabilizers, waxes, or artificial solidifiers, our formulations naturally respond to the temperature around them. Warmer weather can cause them to soften, melt, or separate slightly... especially if they’re left in a hot car, sunny bathroom window, or even your bag on a sunny day.

Summer = Softer

Our balms and moisturizers may melt or soften in hot temps, just like how shea butter or beeswax softens with warmth. This is totally normal and doesn’t affect their effectiveness! In fact, these seasonal changes are a sign of truly natural skincare: no artificial solidifiers, preservatives, or stabilizers . Just pure, potent ingredients that respond to the environment the way nature intended.

Summer Storage Tips

Keep products away from direct sunlight.

Sunlight can break down delicate oils like jojoba, sunflower, and apricot kernel, especially in products like our Blue Tansy HA Moisturizer. Light exposure reduces potency, so a shaded spot is best!

Heat and humidity can accelerate oxidation (aka spoilage) in our most nutrient rich oils like rosehip, argan, and sea buckthorn. Your Sweet Dreams Glow Balm especially loves a cool, shaded shelf.

Always use clean, dry hands or a scoop when dipping into balms or creams. This keeps water-based products like Repair Cream and Nourish Conditioner fresh and bacteria-free. And try not to let serum droppers touch your face.

Pro Tip!

REFRIGERATE! If your balm feels a little softer during summer, you can pop it in the fridge for 5–10 minutes to help it firm up.
